CDM observation deck operating hours. Observation deck at Children's World on Lubyanka: price, how to get there, photos

Good day!

In this review I will tell you about observation deck, which is located in the very center of Moscow. It will be interesting to visit not only Muscovites, but also guests of the capital. It is located in the largest children's store in Moscow - the Central Children's World.

To get to the observation deck, you need to go up to the top floor, right under the roof.

Walk through the cafe area following the signs to the entrance to the observation deck and the Museum of Childhood.

Works observation deck from 10-22 hours. The entrance is free.

It is located on the very roof of the Central Children's House.

Observation deck consists of two parts.

There is a corridor between them.

In this corridor there are stands with information about the sights of Moscow, which can be seen from the observation deck.

View from two observation platforms approximately the same, only the viewing angle changes. Therefore, from one site the Kremlin is better visible, and from the other - Lubyanka Square.

To see everything better, you can use telescopes. They are free.

Now I suggest you admire the views of the center of Moscow.

Lubyanka Square has been completely dug up. Moscow in recent years has looked like a large construction site. It is difficult to find a place where construction work is not ongoing.

Building Polytechnic Museum has been closed for several years.

Let's look into the distance. Our eyes open to a view of Kremlin.

You can see the domes in the distance Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

If we look down, we will see monument to the first printer Ivan Fedorov. Next to it is the foundation of the Trinity Church in the Fields. It was demolished in 1934.

And if you look higher, we see a building Manege.

Nikolskaya street- one of oldest streets Moscow. It will lead you to Red Square. I really like to walk along it.

Visible in the distance high-rise on Kotelnicheskaya embankment.

I told you a little about what you can see from this site. But an attentive visitor will see much more.

The observation deck in the building of the Central Children's World is not the only one in Moscow, but it is here that offers a view of historical Center cities. I advise you to visit it and see everything with your own eyes.

I wish you all interesting travels and new discoveries!

The open observation deck is located on the roof of the Central Children's Store on Lubyanka and, despite its novelty, has already become one of the most popular observation platforms in Moscow. Unlike many other viewpoints that offer a view of the center of the capital from the outside, the observation deck of the Central Children's Museum allows you to see it from a slightly different angle - from the inside.

A good view opens towards the Kremlin and Red Square. It is not possible to see the Moscow fortress and its surroundings in full, since they bottom part are obscured by the roofs, but the view Kremlin towers(including Spasskaya) and the bell towers of the Kremlin cathedrals, towering above the roofs of other buildings, are impressive. The sensations are also enhanced by the atypical neighbors that appeared near the historical center when viewed from this angle: for example, St. Basil's Cathedral (Cathedral of the Intercession Holy Mother of God, which is on the Moat) and the Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin are visible in conjunction with the Shukhov Tower on Shabolovka, Bolshoi Kremlin Palace and the Senate Palace received the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the background, the building Historical Museum stood on the same line with the Nikolskaya and Trinity towers of the Kremlin and, and GUM, and Uglovaya Arsenal Tower surrounded the main building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory.

Also, the observation deck on the roof of the Central Children's Store allows you to see the Metropol and Moscow hotels, the skyscraper of the Swissotel Red Hills hotel, many churches and bell towers and endless residential areas to the very horizon.

A pair of viewing binoculars are available to visitors, although they are practically inaccessible due to high traffic. The observation deck is accessible daily, from 10.00 to 22.00. Best time To visit - the second half of the day, when the Sun is shining from behind.

Free admission.

The Children's World building on Lubyanka is recognized as a cultural heritage of regional significance. Over its more than half a century of history, it has become the embodiment of ideas and ideologies, ambitions and creative plans. However, in order: what is the building famous for, what historical decisions are hidden behind its grandiose facade and why guests of the capital must climb to its roof - a short excursion to its origins cultural heritage will help you get answers.

Where is Children's World located and how to get there

The Children's World building is located in the very center of Moscow, a 10-minute walk from. You can get to it from, which starts from Red Square. On both sides, Detsky Mir faces Teatralnaya Square and Lubyanka Square.

The nearest metro stations are Lubyanka and Kuznetsky Most. Opening hours can be clarified on the official website of Detsky Mir.

History of "Children's World"

The idea of Children's World was embodied in the construction of a building designed by Alexei Dushkin. The construction was timed to coincide with a festival event of global scale - Youth and Students Day. The opening of Children's World embodied the idea of the “happiest” children of the Soviet post-war era. It has been immortalized in the form of the largest project in the European space. The central position inside the room was occupied by a two-story atrium with a carousel. Even today, reconstructed to the full height of the new building, it evokes positive emotions.

The historical building is attributed by architectural experts to the Art Deco style, an eclectic movement characteristic of construction in the middle of the last century. Moreover, in a rather puritanical version of it - a truncated one. This was the Khrushchev period of worship of minimalism and many of the architect’s ideas about interior decoration were not developed.

Even more problematic was the site on which the idea of "A World for Children" was erected. During construction, the base of the Lubyansky Passage was used; the site itself was complex with a large amplitude of surface difference. The result was logical - half a century later the building received emergency status; the issue of reconstruction became unusually acute at the beginning of this century.

Brief chronology of events in the history of the Main Children's World of Russia:

  • 1957 - construction of a store building on Lubyanka Square, architect Dushkin;
  • 1992 – privatization of the building. The decline of the idea of the world of childhood in favor of banks and car dealerships;
  • 2005 – recognition of the building as a protected cultural heritage (only its facade is recognized as an object of conservation);
  • 2008 - the beginning of reconstruction according to the project of M. Posokhin. According to his reconstruction option, the atrium was not preserved;
  • 2011 – appointment of P. Andreev as chief architect. A new renovation plan is approved and the historic atrium is preserved;
  • 2015 – Opening of a new Central Children’s Center on Lubyanka.

In just half a century, the building has experienced all the tricks of history: the struggle of styles, reconstruction in the name of prosperity of trade and the idea of serving childhood. Common sense and architectural taste won. Today it is Shopping mall, in which everything became friends. The idea of childhood and branded companies, a modern atrium and a superbly restored façade of the building. And the new observation deck has become a kind of symbol of the perception of culture from the height of its modern understanding.

Central Children's House on Lubyanka: the best for children?

Having retained its historical “face”, the modern “Central Children’s World on Lubyanka”, in its interior decoration, personifies modern mega shopping areas. It’s quite difficult to say that this is a special “Children’s” zone. Rather, this place corresponds to the interests of family shopping and recreation, which have become attributes of modern society.

The childhood idea of a mansion clock has been replaced by the claim of the “largest” clock in the world. The mechanical watch weighs almost 5 tons and is truly a masterpiece of watch mechanics on a global scale. The new atrium is magnificent with extensive stained glass skylights decorated with scenes by Russian painter Ivan Bilibin.

A feeling of celebration is created - a lot of light, rich decoration combined with modern attributes of civilization, you can simply come here for relaxation and entertainment. They are presented in abundance: Museum of Childhood, Interactive playgrounds, deliciousness and usefulness at every turn. You can also admire the prices; they are quite eloquent.

Children's World observation deck

The main highlight of the new building is the magnificent observation deck on the roof. You can get to it by going up to the 6th floor, then follow the sign. It is open, like the store, from 10 am to 10 pm. The spacious “rooftop walking area” consists of two areas connected by a passage. They offer panoramic views of Moscow, Lubyanka and the Kremlin. Celestial Moscow, as seen from this site, gives a new perception of the old city: the historical Ferrein pharmacy and the magnificent Metropol are seen differently.

For the convenience of children, a special step is equipped; for safety, a glass partition 1.5 meters high is installed; it does not interfere with the panoramic perception. Another advantage is telescopes, which allow you to enhance the impression of high-altitude views of city streets. All this panoramic splendor is available for a fee of 50 rubles. It’s very easy to admire the beauty of the city from the roof of the Children’s World - just take a walk from the Lubyanka or Kuznetsky Most metro stations.

On March 31, 2015, after a large-scale reconstruction, the Central opened on Lubyanka children's store(from 1957 to 2008 it was called “Children’s World”), the reconstruction of the building lasted seven whole years. This is the largest children's store both in Moscow and in the country, and one of the largest in the world. The area of the restored department store is 73 thousand square meters (for comparison: the area of a children's toy store in London is only 5 thousand square meters).

The symbol of the Central Children's Store on Lubyanka is the bear cub Rosya. The prototype of the hero was a teddy bear from 1964, bought in a children's store.
Teddy bear Rosya greets visitors at the entrance to the store

The southern lobby of the Lubyanka metro station has reopened. It was closed due to the reconstruction of the Children's World building. Now, as before, you can immediately get to the store from the Lubyanka metro station.

At the entrance to the Central Children's House there is an information desk, and there is a rush around it. Everyone asks “how, where, what”? The store map is selling like hot cakes

During the construction of the Central Children's House, original materials were used. For example, marble columns and railings were restored and reinstalled. At the same time, the inside of the building has become more comfortable and modern.

I remember from childhood that every trip to Children’s World was accompanied by the obligatory purchase of ice cream.

Now ice cream costs: ice cream - 70 rubles, pistachio and chocolate - 70 rubles, popsicle - 100 rubles

The most popular in the Soviet Union was an ordinary ice cream in an ordinary waffle cup (it was considered special luck when the waffle cup crunched). Until the 80s, it cost 19 kopecks, and the change of one kopeck, naturally, went to the saleswoman. Then the authorities realized that this was wrong and the ice cream began to cost exactly 20 kopecks. The most delicious ice cream in waffle cups in the Soviet Union was probably sold in Moscow's TSUM, GUM and " Children's world».

The ice cream also sells out with a bang.

The main atrium, like a fairy-tale palace, is decorated with paintings by the artist Ivan Bilibin.
The legendary illustrations of this master are familiar to everyone since childhood. These are pictures from favorite Russian fairy tales about “The Frog Princess”, “Vasilisa the Beautiful”, “Sister Alyonushka and Brother Ivanushka”, about “The Feather of Finist-Yasna Falcon”, “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” and others. Area of unique stained glass windows self made above the main atrium is even difficult to imagine: it is more than 1000 square meters!

During the work, the historical façade was completely restored and an atrium was created, the dome of which is decorated with stained glass windows. They are made with acrylic paints with scenes from Russian fairy tales. The authors of the stained glass paintings with an area of 1.5 thousand square meters were the artists Pavel Andreev and Elena Markovskaya, who used paintings by Ivan Bilibin and Aristarkh Lentulov.

On the ground floor there is a white Pobeda car

There is also a stage on the ground floor where artists perform, and in the center of the main atrium children play with inflatable balloons

On a weekday there are quite a lot of people who come to see the updated Children’s World

I am sure that the Central Children's Store will be sold out this weekend.

Personally, I did not like the design of the central atrium. After all, it’s a children’s store and they could lay out the floor for a children’s theme, but it looks like an ordinary shopping center

The place where the Central Children's World was built in 1957 was historically formed as a shopping district. In order to build the main store for all the children of the country, it was necessary to completely demolish 4 buildings in which there were workshops, confectionery shops and shops. In return, the country received the largest retail space exclusively for the sale of children's goods, which later, when exploited, turned into the territory of a happy childhood in the country of the Soviets.

On each floor there are interactive areas with educational and entertainment programs for children.

Interactive photo studio "Landscapes of Russia"

You choose a background for the photo, then the camera takes a photo of you and you can send the resulting frame to your email.

I decided to look into the first store I came across. The tent-shop is designed to resemble the Smurfs' house

The departments in the store are decorated in the style of the products sold. House of "Masha and the Bear" from the cartoon. Not only children take pictures with Mishka:))

The designers at the LEGO store did a great job; there are figures from the construction set everywhere

Modern city made from Lego. You can press buttons and various actions will occur, such as lowering the car

Ivan the Great Bell Tower and Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin

The Bolshoi Theater building is also made entirely from Lego.

The world's tallest LEGO model is installed in the Central House of Art. The giant rocket made from LEGO bricks, 18.5 meters high and weighing more than 4 tons, consists of a record number of parts - 1.9 million pieces. It took 154 people and 8,650 hours to assemble this figure.

The store has a carousel on the ground floor. Of course, it’s a pity that they didn’t preserve the good old carousel here, which delighted the children

You can ride the carousel absolutely free, but to do this, the children need to tell a poem or song to the good Baba Yaga, for this she will give a “ticket” to the attraction

In general, the stores have a lot of interesting things for children and they are all absolutely free.

You can sculpt a figure from clay

can you build a castle out of sand?

In the central atrium of the store there is a mechanical clock that weighs 4.5 tons and consists of 5 thousand parts made of steel, aluminum, titanium and gold-plated. Previously, Children's World had a clock with a cuckoo clock, which many considered to be a symbol of Children's World; the new clock is unlikely to become a symbol...

The world's largest watch was made by craftsmen from the Raketa factory.

The operating clock mechanism measures 6 x 7 m and consists of 21 gears, a 4-meter balance escape wheel and a 13-meter pendulum with a diameter of 3 m.

Children's stores operate on the first and second floors, all the rest are fenced off and have a sign: "Opening soon"

Attraction "Interactive Aquarium"

Interactive library. Here you can download the book to your gadget.

You need to download our application to your gadget, go up to the 4th floor of the Central Children's House, find the interactive portal, turn on the camera on your device and select the book you like. One magical movement of the hand - and it is already downloaded to your gadget! For the youngest visitors in the library, the characters from the fairy tales “Kolobok”, “Teremok” and “Turnip” will come to life on the screen, and while reading a fairy tale, the child will be able to participate in the plot - knead the dough, build a tower, find a mouse.

Dinosaur Show. The show takes place every half hour from 10:00 to 21:00. Ticket prices on weekdays (weekends): adults 550 rubles (600 rubles), children 450 rubles (500 rubles)

Interactive game “Journey to Mars”. You can play alone or with a friend.

KidBurg is located on the fifth floor of the Central Children's House. KidBurg provides an opportunity for a child to realize his inclinations for a future profession and to believe in his strengths and abilities. The format of the game makes acquiring new knowledge and skills fun and exciting for the child, because during the game you can trace the connection between the acquisition of knowledge, its application and the achieved result.
While the child is “working” in KidBurg, parents can relax! Adults (from 14 years old) are given bracelets that provide the right to free entry and exit from the city. You can watch the game from the side, take photos, and visit the KidBurg cafe.
The ticket price includes access to all gaming areas without time restrictions. Children can master any profession, of which there are more than 50 in KidBurg.
Price from 250 rubles

On the seventh floor is located " food court"where you can have a bite to eat with the whole family

The Museum of Childhood is located on the seventh floor (free admission)

The museum displays toys, books, records, films, radio programs that connect more than one generation of people, thanks to which adults go to happy childhood years, and children learn what the childhood of their parents and grandparents was like.

Near the shop windows you can only hear conversations: “But this is what I had as a child” :))

The museum collection includes about a thousand exhibits. If desired, visitors can participate in expanding the collection by adding toys purchased at Children's World.

You can make a collection of coins to remember your visit to the museum yourself, using a special coin machine.

One of the main attractions of the new Children's World is the Observation Deck.

The site offers views of a good half of the center of Moscow

I am glad that the Observation Deck is open to the public

There are the most powerful telescopes, the magnification in them is impressive :)

The observation deck is divided into two platforms. The areas are located between the inscription "Central Children's Store" on the facade of the building

In good weather it will have wonderful views

To summarize, it must be said that a visit to the Central Children's Store on Lubyanka is definitely worth it!!! and definitely with children!!!

Children's World on Lubyanka will definitely become one of the main attractions of the city of Moscow

Here you will have an interesting time and most likely the whole day

In the recently opened Central Children's Store on Lubyanka, you can get to the observation deck, which offers wonderful views of the historical center of Moscow. And you can do this absolutely free.

As soon as the Central Children's Store on Lubyanka opened, we, of course, went to see what happened after such a long reconstruction. We prepared thoroughly for the visit - we printed out the guidebook and highlighted what exactly we wanted to visit. One of the attractions of the Children's Store is the observation deck on the 7th floor. We headed there at the beginning.

How to find the observation deck in the Central Children's Store on Lubyanka:

m. Kuznetsky Most/Lubyanka. address Teatralny proezd, building 5 (Central children's store on Lubyanka). 7th floor.

You need to take the elevator to the 6th floor, then we go around all the catering points (almost all the cafes are located on the 6th level). Next, we head to the large atrium and go around it. Next to the atrium there will be a small door and a staircase that leads to the Museum of Childhood (review of the museum) and the observation deck. We go through the door, climb a little more, and behold, Moscow is in front of us, in full view.

Door to the Observation Deck.

In fact, there are two observation platforms at the top, and they are connected by a long passage: on one side we have a view of the Lubyanka building and the Polytechnic Museum, and on the other you can see the Kremlin.

If you go all the way to the right, you can see a huge logo mounted on the roof. For safety reasons, keep it closed.

Those who are afraid of heights have nothing to fear - there is a fairly high glass side around the entire perimeter. It is worth noting that it is made correctly, as it does not interfere with photography.

There were quite a lot of people on the day we visited the observation point: there were a lot of photographers with tripods, trying to capture Moscow.

This passage connects two observation platforms.

For the curious, telescopic pipes have been installed at the observation deck so that you can get a good look at the old buildings.

Moscow at night is beautiful!

Overall this is beautiful place, I think in the summer there will be no crowd here. A visit to the observation deck on the roof is a great reason to stop by the Central Children's Store.
