The resort town of Budva in Montenegro. What is worth seeing in Budva? Guide to Montenegro Budva

City of Budva– the most popular on the coast of Montenegro. Does this mean that Budva is the best resort in Montenegro? Budva, like any other city, has its pros and cons. The advantages are that there is a lot of everything in Budva, a huge selection of various entertainment, discos, casinos, nightclubs, boutiques, etc. There are also disadvantages: Budva is a very popular resort, so this city has the most tourists. Some people like the abundance of tourists, others don’t.

Choose Budva for a holiday in Montenegro if you are one of those tourists who like constant movement, partying and fun. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, it is probably better to choose some other resort in Montenegro.

Perhaps the overabundance of people is the only minus of Budva. Everything else is good, Budva has everything you need for a seaside holiday, excellent beaches, delicious food, a large selection of apartments and hotels, many attractions. In 7 years of living in Montenegro, I have never met a tourist who would NOT I liked my stay in Budva, everyone is happy, so if you are looking for good resort for relaxation, then you can safely.

Geographically, the city is very well located; many attractions of Montenegro can be reached from Budva easily, cheaply and quickly. For example, you will reach in 30 minutes, in 40 - 50, in Light in 10 minutes, up to 90 minutes, up to 40 minutes.

You can travel along the coast of Montenegro by bus, transport connection the distance between the nearest cities is good, buses run frequently, you won’t have any problems getting to the neighboring resort. Bus station located close to the post office, upon reaching it you can see the bus schedule, but keep in mind that it is not complete, as far as I understand, the schedule of only one company is indicated there, there are also other buses, the schedule of which is not at the bus station.

You can travel around Montenegro not only by bus; if your budget allows, take a taxi, but this transport is much more expensive, although it can be considered when moving short distances, for example, a taxi ride to Sveti Stefan will not cost much. For greater mobility and comfort, I advise you to take the .

The city was founded 2500 years ago, it is one of ancient cities on the Adriatic. Accordingly, as in any ancient city, there are many attractions in Budva, which we will consider below. About 11,000 people permanently live at the resort, but during the season the number of people increases significantly.

I will say that I have serious doubts about the accuracy of the count of people permanently residing in Budva. Firstly, the population census was carried out only in 2003, since then there has been a tourism boom, the number of tourists coming to rest in Montenegro has increased significantly, and Budva has changed a lot, over the past years a lot of hotels and apartments have been built, whole new areas have appeared . Secondly, no one takes into account the foreigners permanently residing in Budva, of whom there are a lot. I think there are much more than 11,000 people living in the city.

Budva is an expensive city, this is natural; you have to pay for the popularity of the resort. This does NOT mean that you will spend MUCH more money at this resort than if you go to another resort, but, nevertheless, a holiday in Budva will be a little more expensive than at neighboring resorts.

Sights of Budva

You need to start sightseeing in Budva with a visit old part of the city. You can easily recognize it, since the city is surrounded by massive walls, behind which most of the resort’s attractions are concentrated.

In the old part of the city there are a number of attractions that are considered the most important, and we will talk about them later, but, in principle, the entire space outside the fortress walls is a museum under open air, walk along the ancient streets, visit the fortress and museum, sit in cafes, of which there are plenty in old Budva.

The old part of Budva is small, you can see everything in an hour, provided that you have women and children walking with you; single men can do it in half an hour.

Below we highlight the main, most famous attractions of this part of the city, although, as I already wrote, don’t worry about it, just take a walk around the city. Good photo come out with city walls. Check out the scenery below. You can climb the wall using one of two entrances leading to it.

Be sure to visit the territory of old Budva Citadel. There is an entrance fee, but the price is small. The citadel is ancient fortress, built in the 9th century, at the time of its founding it was considered the most impregnable on the Adriatic.

On the territory of the citadel you can visit Budva Museum, and library. The library boasts a rich collection, containing 60,000 books, including very rare editions. The library is considered one of the oldest in the country, which, in my opinion, is quite surprising considering that it is only about 150 years old. It’s hard to imagine that just a century and a half ago people hardly used libraries.

In addition to the above-mentioned museum on the territory of the old town, you can visit Museum of Archeology and Contemporary Art, paid entrance.

On the territory of old Budva there are several churches that are considered important landmarks. One of the most famous Catholic churches built in the 7th century and is called Church of St. John. However, the church was rebuilt many times and now looks completely different than in the 7th century.

Be sure to visit the Orthodox Holy Trinity Church(XIX century) and St. Mary's Church"on the cape".

Of course, in Budva you can see not only the old part of the city; there are also other attractions. Meet, below you see the symbol of the city, this is Stela, dancer, near which tourists love to take pictures. Agree, the photos turn out great. From this place one of the best views of the city in the region.

You can rent a boat and admire the view of the old city from the sea.

In addition to the attractions directly in Budva, there is also something to see in the surrounding area. For example, you can get to Mogren fortress True, you'll have to walk, but is it possible? a short walk can scare a real Rousseau - a tourist.

The road to the fortress starts from Mogren beach, however, it can be called a road very conditionally; you need to make your way through the bushes up the rocks.

Mogren Fortress was built in the 19th century, from the hill near the remains of the fortress you can see great views to Budva and Nikola Island. It is best to take photographs from the observation deck, which is located nearby.

If you don’t like walking, you can get to the fortress by taxi using another road. You can probably get there by rented car, but I think that you don’t know the Budva Riviera that well and it will be difficult for you to find your way.

On your own you can get not only to the Mogren fortress, but also to Sveti Nikola Islands. There is a wonderful nature reserve on this island, with pheasants and deer, but to my deep regret, entry into the reserve is prohibited. However, on the island you can visit the Church of St. Nicholas.

Be sure to visit Sveti Stefan Island. It is located not far from Budva, therefore, the easiest way to get there is by taxi, it will not be expensive. The island of Sveti Stefan (Sveti Stefan) is business card Montenegro, he is constantly depicted on souvenirs, guidebooks and postcards. A very beautiful place. Unfortunately, the island has now been turned into a hotel, by the way, the most expensive in the country, so tourists are prohibited from entering it. But you can look at Sveti Stefan from the shore. In addition, there is an excellent Observation deck, from where it is clearly visible. Well, and also, around the island it is very broken nice park, in which it is pleasant and interesting to take a walk. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a photo of the park, so just take my word for it that this place is worth a walk.

It always seemed strange to me that entry to this island was prohibited. Okay, you sold the island into private hands and made a hotel there, but is it really possible to prohibit entry to such a significant attraction? At least they let tourists take a walk for money.

I marked the sights of Budva that I mentioned in the article on the map.

Shopping in Budva

Shopping in Budva is fine. There are not many large shopping centers, although there are some. But, in Budva you can visit an interesting area of the city, where there is everything a tourist’s heart desires. On the Promenade you will find souvenir shops, cafes, fast food, fashionable restaurants and attractions. In the evening, discos open in the same area. Much of the area is filled with shops. Probably, shopping in Budva still does not reach the level major cities, such as Belgrade, Moscow, or at least, but for a small resort town the selection of goods is very good.

I especially want to mention the purchase of souvenirs. If you need them, then the largest selection of souvenirs is in Kotor and Budva. People say that it seems that in Budva souvenirs are more expensive than in other cities of Montenegro, I don’t know, I didn’t check the prices, because, personally, I think souvenirs are absolutely useless goods and I’m not interested in buying them.

The only thing I love from “souvenirs” is food. When returning home from vacation, you can grab a couple of packages of cheese, prosciutto, some wine and something else. The quality of products in Montenegro is much higher than at home, so it won’t hurt you to create a small supply. You can buy food in supermarkets or at the market. The market in Montenegro is called ZELENA PIJACA, open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. At the market they give you everything to try.

In a word, in Budva there is no question of where to go and what to do. The choice of entertainment in the city is very decent. Well, there are also opportunities for shopping.

Beaches of Budva

Beaches of Budva- the most popular in all of Montenegro, it would be strange if it were otherwise, given that the most popular resort city in Montenegro is Budva. Does this mean that the beaches of Budva are the best in Montenegro? The beaches are good, but I cannot call all the beaches in Budva the best. What determines the quality of the beach? Let's think a little, there are several important parameters:

  1. Beach equipment. I don’t know about you, but I believe that in the 21st century the beach should have, at a minimum, a shower, a toilet, beds, umbrellas, a place to change clothes, and some kind of cafe where you can buy food and water. All beaches in Budva have all this. But the same can be said about almost all beaches in Montenegro. It is appropriate to say here that the beaches of Montenegro are for rent. Moreover, entry to most beaches is free; they charge for renting sunbeds and umbrellas. Accordingly, there are sunbeds and umbrellas on the beaches. Well, the rest of the infrastructure is being done so that people can go to the beach and pay for the rental of sunbeds. Would you go to a beach that doesn't have a changing cabin or toilet? Personally, no. Therefore, infrastructure is everywhere, including on all the beaches of Budva. The beaches are cleaned regularly, usually twice a day, so you will NOT see mountains of garbage.
  2. Number of people on the beach. Budva is the most popular resort in Montenegro, so there are a lot of people on most beaches, and this is bad. If only because there is less free space on the beach. And according to this indicator, the beaches of Budva are much inferior to the beaches of other resorts in Montenegro. But, fortunately, in Budva there are some beaches where there are few people. For example, there is a beach near Sveti Stefan, it is the most expensive in Montenegro, so there are few people on this beach. What other beaches in Budva are visited by relatively few people? For example, the beaches on the island of St. Nicholas. To get to the island you need to go by boat, it’s a little longer and more expensive, so not many people will go there, so this beach will be better than the city one.
  3. Bottom. On some beaches in Montenegro it is not comfortable to swim, because the bottom is not cleared, and all your legs can be beaten off. In fact, such a problem rarely occurs, but I’ve been to such beaches in Montenegro a couple of times, and I don’t go to them anymore. On most Budva beaches the bottom is cleared.
  4. Beach. The beaches of Montenegro are pebbly (the majority of such beaches), sandy and concrete. Which of these beaches to choose is up to you, everyone has their own taste. But, I guess that most tourists are looking for fine pebble beaches, which are what prevail in Budva.
  5. Water clarity. With this in Budva everything is worse than in other resorts in Montenegro. The more people in the sea, the less transparent the water. Which resort in Montenegro is the most popular and where will the most people be? That's right, in Budva. But, as I already wrote, there are exceptions, for example, on the beaches near Sveti Stefan and on the island of Sveti Nikola there are fewer swimmers.

Conclusion, the beaches in Budva are good, but they are crowded with people, and this is their only drawback. If you are looking for a super-duper beach, choose one with fewer people. For example, near Budva you can get to the island of St. Nikola, or, if you have enough finances, swim on the beach near Sveti Stefan. If you rented a car, you can get to the beaches on the Lustica peninsula (from Budva about half an hour on the road), for example, excellent beaches on the Zanica and Plavi Horizon peninsula.

Perhaps I scared someone with this description, but in fact, everything is not so bad. Any popular resort, regardless of the country, will have the same problems. And, by the way, in Montenegro for everyone major resorts there are quite a lot of people, there are simply even more people in Budva than anywhere else. By the way, there is one way to avoid crowds of tourists on the beaches; it is enough to come on vacation at the beginning or end of the season.

So, I’ll finish the theory, and let’s look at the beaches of Budva. I’m unlikely to tell you all the beaches, if only because I haven’t swum at all of them myself, but I’ll describe the main and most famous ones. I advise you to read the description of the most not only Budva, but throughout Montenegro.

The main resort place in Budva is. This is probably the noisiest place in all of Budva, since it is on this beach that a significant part of the tourists who come to Budva swim. The length of the fine pebble beach is 1.6 km. The beach is relatively narrow, sandwiched between the sea and the promenade with numerous cafes. By the way, the cafes are mostly good, so you don’t have to leave this beach all day, of course, if you are a fan of spending a long time at sea.

The beach is popular mainly because it is actually the central beach in Budva, it is close to a large number of hotels and apartments, many tourists swim on the beach closest to them. Also, on this beach there are children's attractions and water activities, and their choice is quite large (banana, parachute flight, boat rental, etc.).

Entrance to the beach with your own towel is free, but you will have to pay to rent a sunbed and umbrella.

Next, I want to talk about the beaches on island of St. Nicholas, these are exactly the beaches that are less overloaded with tourists. Agree, there is a difference between going to the central Slavic beach, which is located a couple of minutes walk from many hotels, or sailing to the beach on a boat. Of course, not everyone will swim. For example, I rarely go to remote beaches, if only because I’m not used to spending a lot of time on the beach, and I don’t want to spend an hour on the road to swim. And many people think the same way: some don’t swim much, some are simply too lazy to sail to the island, some don’t want to spend money on a boat.

So, on the island of St. Nicholas there are several excellent beaches called “ Hawaii" I don’t know if you will relax on these beaches every day, but swim at least once to feel the difference. There is regular water communication between the city and the island.

The beaches are pebble and their total length is about one kilometer. Like other beaches in Budva, the island has all the necessary infrastructure.

A round-trip boat ticket costs 3 euros. It is forbidden to bring your own food to the beach; if you get hungry, you can have a snack at local cafes. To be honest, I don’t know how strictly this ban is enforced.

The beach is excellent, there are much less people and noise than on the Slavic beach.

The beaches are very popular Mogren 1 And Mogren 2. There are slightly fewer people on both beaches than on the Slavic beach, because it takes longer to get to them. The beaches are located not far from the old part of Budva, but you cannot get to it by car; you need to walk about one and a half kilometers. Sand and pebble Mogren 1 is 250 meters long. The depth on this beach increases very quickly.

Mogren 2 is a little longer, 300 meters, and this beach is completely sandy, the depth increases gradually, entry into the water is safe even for small children.

Entry to both beaches is free. You can rent beds and umbrellas. The beaches have all the infrastructure necessary for recreation.

JAZ beach is 1.7 km long and is located behind Budva. You can get there by taxi, your own car (rental car) or by bus. It's not far from the city, I think, no more than 10 minutes. The beach is very popular and visited, but, nevertheless, there will not be such crowds of tourists as on the Slavic beach, in addition, the beach is much wider, so there is enough space for everyone. Overall, I think this is a good alternative to Slavic Beach.

The beach is pebble. Entrance is free, it is possible to rent chairs and umbrellas.

One of the unique beaches of Montenegro is located ten kilometers from Budva. This beach is called Ploce and can be reached by bus or rented car. The beach is small but very clean. Remember, I told you above that the longer it takes to get to the beach, the fewer people there will be on it and the cleaner it will be. Here, Ploce beach typical confirmation of my words. Rare tourists will go to the beach by bus every day, and not everyone rents a car.

Ploce Beach is interesting not only because fewer people swim there, but also because there are several swimming pools with sea water. Maybe this is not really necessary on the beach, but children love to diversify swimming in the sea with a pool. Part of the shore is covered with pebbles, and part is concrete.

Entrance to the beach is free. It is prohibited to bring food with you; if you get hungry, local cafes are at your service.

Right next to the fortress walls of Budva there is another small and cozy beach. Its length is only 250 meters. This beach is called Richard's chapter. Part of the beach belongs to the hotel, and visiting it is possible only for a fee, and quite a high one, 25 euros, although the price includes the rental of a sunbed and an umbrella. There are, of course, not many people on this part of the beach. The other part of the beach is free to visit and is much more crowded.

The beach is covered with pebbles and sand, entry into the water is smooth, the depth increases gradually. The area on the beach is very picturesque, which makes it possible not only to swim, but also to take great photos. Check out the photo below.

At the end of the city marina there is a tiny 100-meter beach Pisana. Opens from the beach good view on Sveti Stefan, however, the beach is constantly crowded and I'm not sure it's worth swimming in such conditions.

In my opinion, you can swim on this pebble beach once or twice, but for a daily visit it is better to choose another beach.

Guvantse Beach be close to elite complex Dukley Gardens. This complex is designed for millionaires; apartments are sold there at astronomical prices. Agree, it is logical to assume that there will be a corresponding beach near such apartments? Logic does not deceive us, the beach is really good. By the way, it is 2.5 km away from the center of Budva, so there are not so many tourists here.

The beach is covered with sand, the entry into the sea is smooth, the depth increases gradually. The infrastructure on this beach is well developed, the beach is very clean and I recommend this beach for a holiday in Budva. In addition, entry to the beach is free. If you wish, you can rent a bed and an umbrella.

All the beaches discussed in the article are marked on the map below.

Weather and climate in Budva

The climate in Budva is Mediterranean, with warm and dry summers and warm and rainy winters. There is no snow on the coast of Montenegro in winter, but it does rain. However, I understand that winter in Budva is unlikely to interest you, so let’s talk only about summer.

The swimming season in Budva lasts from the beginning of May to the end of September. Let's take a look at the water temperature in Budva.

To make swimming comfortable, I advise you to plan a vacation at this resort in Montenegro from mid-May to mid-September, and I will explain why. For example, the water temperature on May 1 of this year was 20 degrees. Would you say it's okay to swim? I agree, but it’s still not very comfortable. And on the fourteenth of May the water was already 22 degrees, and at the end of the month it was 24 degrees. The same is true in September, at the beginning of September last year the water was 25 degrees, and at the end of the month only 23 degrees.

In general, the weather in Budva allows swimming from the beginning of May to the end of September, but maximum comfort will be from mid-May to mid-September.

Below we take a look at the average daily air temperature at the resort.

It rains rarely in summer, and if it does, it doesn’t last long, and the weather won’t spoil your vacation. But after September 15–20, the probability of rain becomes higher. And, by the way, this is another reason to go on vacation early and finish it by mid-September.

Accommodation in Budva

There are no problems with accommodation in Budva; the choice of hotels and apartments is huge. But, since Budva is a very popular resort, accommodation options are sold out quite quickly. Therefore, I advise you to book your accommodation in advance. Any discounts for early booking You won't get it, but the choice of good apartments/hotels with excellent value for money will be much higher.

You can see prices for accommodation in Budva in the form below.

Please note that the most low prices on in May and September, and the highest in July and August.

Prices in restaurants and shops in Budva

Let's see what prices are in Budva restaurants. Instead of describing the prices, I decided to go to the website of the first Budva restaurant found on Google and take a few screenshots. I did not screenshot the entire menu, since the full menu is not required to understand the price order. Please note that this is a fairly well-known restaurant, with a high Tripatvisor rating, and its prices are slightly higher than average. So, prices in the restaurant Obala, Budva:

Prices for meat dishes:

Salad prices:

Pizza prices:

For comparison, I took several screenshots on the website of another restaurant, by the way, a very good one, I personally have been there and will continue to visit it. This restaurant is called Kuzina, the food is very good.

Prices in this restaurant are lower than in the previous one. Again, I did not screenshot the entire menu, but only a few examples.

Salad prices:

Breakfast prices:

Spaghetti and risotto:

As for prices in Budva stores, I don’t think it’s worth describing them now, since we have a detailed article on our website about prices in Montenegro and it is relevant for any region, look at “”. I describe prices in restaurants broken down by region separately, since, in different cities prices vary somewhat, but in stores, in my opinion, there is no difference.

P.S. Do you know that obtaining a residence permit (residence permit) in Montenegro is easier and cheaper than in any other country in the world? detailed information about immigration was published on the website EVROPAEDU.RU (by the way, this is the most detailed Runet website about life in Montenegro). Consultations on immigration can be obtained by calling +382 69 287 855.

From Tivat Airport to Budva can be reached in 25 minutes, it is only 20 km away. To Podgorica - 60 km, to Dubrovnik - 70 km.

The history of this city, which now has a strong reputation as one of the best Montenegrin resorts, began 2500 years ago. According to legend, the city got its name thanks to tragic story the love of a merchant's daughter and a poor mason's son. Having not received their parents’ consent to the marriage, the young people said: “Let two be as one,” threw themselves from the city wall into the sea and turned into fish. “Two as one” literally translates roughly as “budu dva” - Budva. The symbol of the city is two fish.

Tourists are attracted by clean pebble beaches, plenty of entertainment and the picturesque streets of the Old Town with its citadel, narrow cobbled streets and red-tiled roofs. Young people come here to dance at night discos; couples with children to swim in the clear waters of the Adriatic; romantics of all stripes who love to wander through the ancient streets... Budva is a universal resort, a holiday here will certainly leave pleasant memories.

Beaches and sea

The total length of Budva's beaches is more than 11 km. The most popular and famous beaches are Slavyansky, Mogren, Richard's Head. In the vicinity of Budva there are also popular beaches Jaz, Ploce and Trsteno, which can be reached both by bus and by car.

Slavic beach stretches for 1.5 km and is covered with small pebbles. The infrastructure is well developed: there are sunbeds and umbrellas, showers. Locker rooms, cafes and restaurants. Entrance to the beach is free, rental of beach equipment is paid. There are conditions for snorkeling, you can go water skiing, ride a boat or jet ski. The “highlight” of the beach is that there is bungee jumping here - you can jump from as much as 40 meters, and then get a disc with a recording of your jump. The beach is very crowded; in the evenings there are discos.

Mogren Beach is surrounded by rocks and covered with small pebbles and sand. It is divided by Cape Mogren into two parts, connected by a tunnel. The water here is very clean - the beach has been awarded the Blue Flag. The pebble beach of Richardova Head is hidden between Mogren and Slavic beaches. It is small - only 200 m long - so there are not many people here. The beach near the Old Town of Budva is the smallest beach in the city. It is pebble, well equipped, but prices here are higher than in Slavyansky.

Jaz beach is located 3 km from Budva. Almost one and a half kilometers of sand and pebbles are filled with tourists who come here by bus or taxi. The beach is divided by the Drenovstitsa river, which flows into the sea, into large and small sections. The beach by the river is completely sandy. 7 km from Budva there is the stone beach of Ploce. It is well equipped and you can go down to the sea via steps or a pebble slope. The entrance to the water here is steep, but on the shore there are several pools with clean sea water.

The sandy beach of Trsteno is chosen by families with children - it is sandy, the entrance to the sea is very smooth. You can get to the beach through Jaz Beach, from which it is 2.5 km away. Tourists also visit the sandy beaches on the island of St. Nicholas, which can be reached by boat.

Things to do

Most of the attractions are located in the Old Town. It is definitely worth taking a walk along the winding cobbled streets and exploring the ancient sights. This is the city citadel with churches. The Church of St. John is a beautiful church with a bell tower in the Gothic style, built in the 7th century. The miraculous icon of the Budva Mother of God is kept here. St. Mary's Church is the remains of a monastery that stood on this site more than a thousand years ago. The third church famous in Budva is the Church of the Holy Trinity. Worth a visit also Archaeological Museum, where there are more than 3000 exhibits.

The island of St. Nicholas is located in close proximity to the Old Town and is uninhabited. It has a 16th-century church and three sandy beaches. The second famous island in the vicinity of Budva (5 km from it) is Sveti Stefan, the legendary island hotel where Rockefeller, Vysotsky, Plisetskaya, Stallone, Gagarin and other celebrities once lived.

You can rest and relax after walking on the main resort street, which is located parallel to the embankment. There are many restaurants here where you can try national Montenegrin dishes - they are very filling. There are several clubs and many bars where music is played at night and discos are held.

It is worth going on an excursion along the Bay of Kotor. You will see the Church of the Virgin Mary on the Rock, located on a man-made island, the monastery on the island of St. George, the town of millionaires Perast, as well as Kotor with its fortress walls. Those who like long excursions can visit the Moraca Monastery and drive along the Tara River canyon in natural Park Durmitor.

2. You don’t even have to walk along the streets of the old city, it’s better to walk along its perimeter along the walls, looking from above into the courtyards, yachts and the sea ⛵ There are 3 entrances to walls of Budva, the most accessible gate at the Citadel is on the map. If the gate is locked, no problem, feel free to climb over! In summer, during the daytime, they charge 2 euros for entry.

If I'm busy, use the services of other Russian guides in Budva on

Budva Riviera is 25 kilometers Adriatic coast, like a thread on which 17 beautiful sandy beaches are strung like pearls. It starts in the north from Jaz beach, which is rightfully considered the most beautiful beach in Budva. It stretches along a long curved tongue along the sea, crystal clear and having its own special “Mediterranean” color.

Yaz is divided into two unequal parts - a large one, 700 m long, and a small one - 400 m long (nudists prefer to sunbathe there) - and is crossed by the Drenovstitsa River, which flows into the sea. Old town of Budva

The city of Budva was created by the Phoenicians. Expelled from their native lands for unknown sins, Kadmos and his wife Harmony, according to legend, became the founders of the Butua (Budva) emirion, and from here begins the long life and difficult fate of the city. The rulers of the city changed - Greeks, Venetians, Slavs ruled it - and they all left their unique mark on the culture of this unique place.

The city is literally stuffed with cultural monuments, mainly, of course, religious culture. The churches of the Holy Trinity, St. John, the Holy Mother of God and St. Sava, the monasteries of Stanjevici and Podostrog... it would seem that the old city should be a solemnly austere place... But summer comes, and in the streets and squares everything is happening magic... they turn into stages on which visiting troupes give performances, the city is filled with music - music festivals are held here, and classics are heard in the magnificent interior of the Santa Marina de Punte church... And main square turns into a square of poets...

In the ancient Citadel, located in the very high point old Budva, the Grand Theater festival is taking place... but if you are not a fan of classics and poetry, just take a walk along these pavements, imprisoned between stone walls, you will be surprised to suddenly see on one of them the familiar profile of Pushkin - this is the name of one of the many old town cafe. There are many such small cafes in the city, as well as boutiques and various galleries.

The island of St. Nicholas is the largest, absolutely charming real desert island in the southern part of the Adriatic Sea, located a kilometer from Budva by sea. The island covers the entrance to Budva Bay, the length of the island is two kilometers, maximum height- 121 meters above sea level.

The fact that people previously lived here is evidenced by the Church of St. Nicholas, first mentioned in the 16th century; the skeleton was named in honor of this saint. The church is surrounded by old graves in which, as legend has it, lie the crusaders who died from the plague that raged in Budva, where they were camped.

The island is very green, the bulk of the vegetation is evergreen. These thickets are home to many birds, but besides them, on the island you can find various small animals and even mouflons. The island is connected to the Slavyansky beach by a shallow water path, which, of course, is associated with a legend. When Saint Sava was about to sail from Budva to Athos, a storm broke out, and in order to get to his galley, he threw a handful of stones into the sea. This created a shallow path along which the saint was able to approach the galley, climb onto it and sail from Budva.

The beach on the island of St. Nicholas actually consists of three, the total length of which is more than 800 m. Coastline The island is heavily indented, and if someone wants to retire, then there are many small coves at his disposal where nirvana will be ensured.

You can only get to the island by water, using a water taxi that runs between the island and the beaches of Budva. The cost of such a trip ranges from 2 to 5 euros per person, depending on the season. Small cafes and bars will not let you die of hunger on the island of St. Nicholas; there is also a fish restaurant, where guests will be served delicious freshly caught fish in the heat.
