Double swallow. "Swallow", which turned out to be a pig, or about high-speed trains of Russian Railways

The Lastochka electric train is used to perform suburban routes, as well as on regional passenger transportation. Due to the flexibility of the wagon layout, the train can be easily adapted, allowing it to be used to suit various requirements.

The ES2G “Standard” version is a city express designed to transport passengers where passenger traffic reaches high level. The length of the turnover section should not exceed 60 kilometers.

The ES2G “Premium” variant carries passengers on a 200-kilometer turnaround in suburban areas. The carriages of the train have increased comfort.

The EM variant is a dual-system electric train that provides interregional transportation. The length of the circulation section is 700 kilometers. This composition provides communication between cities.

The train cars have a lightweight design. This allows you to reduce energy consumption. The composition has an intelligent control system. Due to advanced traction equipment and a special automatic guidance system, the train has increased energy efficiency. Thanks to regenerative braking, energy recovery is additionally ensured. Thanks to original design solutions, the costs of train maintenance and repairs are significantly reduced.

Extruded aluminum profiles were used to create the car bodies. The air suspension provides comfortable conditions for passengers at any speed. The applied elements for extinguishing accumulated energy, as well as crash elements, provide protection for workers and passengers in case of possible unforeseen situations.

The train has a perfect fire safety system, which fully complies with the standards existing on the railways of the Russian Federation. Passenger safety is also ensured by video surveillance.

Features of carriages and conditions for passengers

The interiors of the electric train cars have a modern design. Passengers are comfortably accommodated in their seats. The carriages have enough space not only for seats, but also for luggage of non-standard sizes. Wheelchairs can be easily accommodated.

There is enough light in the carriages. This is ensured by panoramic windows. They remain transparent even at sub-zero temperatures because they have reliable thermal insulation. The existing heating system, as well as ventilation and air conditioning, provide microclimatic conditions that can be called comfortable without any convention.

In recent years high speed trains in Russia have already become commonplace. But the Lastochka electric train has a number of features. To a greater extent, it resembles not an intercity train, but an electric train. Only comfortable. The doors of the carriages have an increased width. They lead not to vestibules, but directly to passenger compartments. The seats are installed with increased density. But such a train is intended for short trips. In European countries, such trains also operate on short-distance routes.

It should be clarified that passengers boarding and disembarking at intermediate stations through the doors of the 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 9th cars. All doors open only at the end stations. This option may probably seem inconvenient. However, one or two trips are enough for no difficulties to arise. As for opening not all doors at intermediate stations, it has been established that this option reduces the stopping time en route, which means average speed increases along the entire route.

It is known that the platforms of many Russian stations are too low. This sometimes makes boarding and disembarking very difficult. All Lastochka cars have special steps. When the doors are opened, they extend, going down. This ensures more comfortable boarding and disembarking.

The numbering of seats in the carriages of the Lastochka train is somewhat unusual. Odd numbered seats are located near the windows. Since there are fewer such seats, some of these numbers are not used in the seat numbering. There can be two or three chairs in a row.

The train has created conditions for people with disabilities. Thus, in the head carriages, the toilets have features that allow such people to use them without much difficulty.

Conclusion

The Lastochka high-speed electric train was created by Siemens AG. At the same time, all the features (track, climate) characterizing the Russian territory were taken into account. The trains operate on routes connecting Moscow with Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, and Orel. There are also lines that connect St. Petersburg with Petrozavodsk, Bologoye, and Veliky Novgorod. Such trains also carry passengers on the routes "Krasnodar - Rostov-on-Don", "Krasnodar - Adler", "Maikop - Adler".

Trains move at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. They can be operated at temperatures from minus forty to plus forty. At the same time, comfortable conditions are maintained in the carriages, as they have climate control.

In September 2011, Russian Railways entered into a contract with the company for the supply of 1,200 cars. In November 2013, the production of such trains began in Russia (Ural Locomotives plant). It is envisaged that the scale of production will be 200 cars during the year.

The Swallow train is designed in such a way that all equipment is located in the space under the cars and on the roof. The internal space of the electric train is used to the maximum to make the trip comfortable for passengers. Reinforced fiberglass plastic and aluminum are used in wall cladding. The design of all cabins is made in light colors for a comfortable stay for passengers.

The ceiling contains elements of built-in lighting, loudspeakers for warning passengers, and air conditioning systems. The flooring uses “floating” particle boards with a smooth coating based on PVC or rubber. The side windows have unbreakable, heat-insulating double-glazed windows.

The configuration of passenger seats depends both on the train model (ES1 or ES2G) and on its category (standard class or interregional premium class). There are 5 interior options in total:

  • ES1- suburban regional and interregional (premium) with 1st and 2nd class cabins,
  • ES2G- suburban urban, urban with increased capacity and interregional (premium) with 1st, 2nd and 3rd class cabins.

Premium Cabin 1st class

2nd class cabin

3rd class cabin

Second or third class seats are separated by a 3+2 aisle in one row, with the exception of rows located in close proximity to vestibule areas and inter-car passages, where seats are placed in a 2+2 pattern along the same width (there is no space near the aisle in a row 3 places each). Seats of the second or third class of increased comfort are located in the head cars in a special compartment in front of the driver's cabin according to a 2+2 abreast pattern for commuter trains and a 2+0 pattern for intercity trains (there are no seats on the right side of the aisle). First class seats are arranged in a 2+2 row pattern and have a large width between the seats; 3 first class seats opposite the toilets are single. There are tables opposite most 1st and 2nd class seats. Most of the seats in 3rd class carriages, as well as in the head carriages of 1st and 2nd class, face the other seats, that is, passengers sit facing each other, while in intermediate 2nd class carriages the seats are mostly oriented towards the front to the back of the seats in the previous row. However, in all cars, regardless of their class, there are seats facing the rear of the seats in the previous row.

ES2G suburban-urban

Used on the following Lastochka train routes:

St. Petersburg - Vyborg, St. Petersburg - Volkhovstroy, St. Petersburg - Luga, St. Petersburg - Melnichny Ruchey, St. Petersburg - Zelenogorsk, St. Petersburg - Roshchino, St. Petersburg - Kanneljärvi, St. Petersburg - Oranienbaum, St. -Petersburg - Kalishche, Moscow - Kryukovo, Moscow - Tver, Moscow - Klin, Moscow - Konakovo State District Power Plant, Ekaterinburg - Nizhny Tagil, Ekaterinburg - Kamensk-Uralsky, Ekaterinburg - Kuzino.

Electric trains ES2G have a partially different layout from ES1. Unlike ES1, all seats in ES2G are oriented with their front side to the rear of the previous row, while they face in the direction of the nearest door. The seats are upholstered in blue. The seats in the rows on the left and right are for the most part symmetrical.

Electric trains 001 to 044 have a suburban urban interior. Unlike the ES1 suburban regional version, the number of seats in the cabin was reduced to increase the capacity of the train, and seats of a slightly different design were also used. In the head cars and the intermediate car without a pantograph, most of the seats are arranged according to the 3+2 pattern in a row, with the exception of the rows in the head part and some outer ones, and in the intermediate ones with a pantograph - according to the 2+2 pattern. In total, the train has 386 seats, which are located as follows:

  • in the head cars (first and fifth) there are 66 seats, including 9 folding ones. In the front part of the cabin there are 10 seats arranged in a 2+2 pattern (2 rows on the left and 3 on the right, 2 seats in each). Further in the middle part of the cabin there are 5 double-sided rows of seats, while in the first row the seats are arranged according to a 2+2 pattern, and in the rest - 2+3 (24 seats in total). Opposite the bathroom on the left side there are 7 folding seats, on the right between the bathroom and the second pair of doors there are 2 more. In the rear of the cabin there are 5 double-sided rows, with the first and last seats arranged according to a 2+2 pattern, and the rest - 2+ 3.
  • in intermediate cars with a current collector (second and fourth) there are 80 seats. All seats are arranged in a 2+2 configuration. There are 5 rows of seats in the outer parts of the cabin, and 10 rows in the middle. There are 80 seats in total. Subsequently, in some electric trains, on one side along the left side behind the second door, 3 rows of seats were eliminated, due to which the number of seats was reduced to 74, and the freed-up space was used to transport standing passengers and bicycles.
  • in the intermediate car without a pantograph (third) there are 94 seats. Most of the seats are arranged in a 2+3 pattern, with the exception of the rows along the edges of the cabin and near the doors (6 rows in total), where the seats are arranged in a 2+2 pattern.

ES2G urban

Used on the routes of the Moscow Central Circle (Moscow City Circle Electric Train).

Electric trains ES2G from number 045 have an urban interior with increased capacity, created specifically for the Moscow Central Circle. Unlike previous ES2G suburban-urban trains, they have a reduced number of seats to increase the total capacity of the train and improve conditions for standing passengers. The cabins are equipped with horizontal handrails for the convenience of standing passengers, 2 on each side, with the exception of the middle intermediate car, where there are handrails only on the side opposite the seats. In intermediate cars with a current collector, instead of part of the seats, there are areas for transporting bicycles and luggage, equipped with bicycle racks. In the salons near the doors, color information monitors are installed, displaying part of the route diagram with transfers and the current position of the train on the route, which is of great importance for city trains with frequent stops. The differences in seating layout are as follows:

  • in the head cars (first and fifth), the seats in all rows are arranged according to the 2+2 pattern, that is, the third longitudinal row has been eliminated. Due to this, there were 7 fewer seats in the carriage, that is, their total dropped to 59.
  • in intermediate cars with a current collector (second and fourth), on both sides along the left side behind every second door, 3 left rows of seats were eliminated (6 seats on each side of the car), due to which the number of seats was reduced to 68, and the freed up space became used for transporting standing passengers and bicycles.
  • in the intermediate car without a pantograph (third), 2 seats were removed, the total number of seats decreased to 92.

ES2GP premium

The ES2GP electric train has cars with three classes of seats. The first class seats are arranged in a 2+2 pattern, the rest - 2+3. The layout of the 1st and 2nd class seats is in many ways similar to that of the ES1 premium class electric trains - for the most part they are located opposite each other and have tables, while the 3rd class seats do not have tables, and their arrangement is similar to the ES2G suburban-city cabin type. 1st class seats are upholstered in grayish brown, 2nd class - grayish blue, 3rd class - blue.

Cabin configuration and equipment

In addition to passenger seats, the train also has multifunctional areas with luggage racks and reclining seats. On the shelves for hand luggage and also in the walls opposite some seats there are electrical outlets for 220 V AC, which allows you to recharge mobile devices while traveling. On trains operating in the Sochi region, these areas are equipped with racks for securing skis and snowboards. In the head carriages of the train, in front of the second pair of doors on the starboard side, there are bathrooms with environmentally friendly vacuum toilets (one per carriage) and washbasins equipped with special equipment for the disabled and a reservoir system located on the left side of the bathroom.

The inter-car passages, located at both ends of the intermediate cars and the rear end of the head car, are made in the form of double-leaf fire-resistant sliding doors with appropriate frames, seals and fire-resistant glazing. From the outside, the passages are completely surrounded by sealed flexible accordion-type ceilings.

There are no vestibules in the cars; passenger lean-and-sliding doors open directly into the cabin and form vestibule entry and exit zones in it, which are separated from the main part of the cabin with passenger seats only by glass partitions. Due to the lack of vestibules to prevent cooling passenger compartment V winter time the temperature in these zones is maintained by additional heaters with directed supply of warm air to the vestibule area and heating of the walls. The fresh air supply system is connected to a carbon dioxide level control sensor, as a result of which power consumption is significantly reduced when there are a small number of passengers in the cars.

To maintain a comfortable temperature and air exchange, the train cars are equipped with special climate control units located on the roofs of the cars. Each head car is additionally equipped with a compact air conditioning unit for the driver's cabin, which operates independently of the installation of the passenger compartment. Climate control units provide air exchange, heating and cooling of air. The distribution of the prepared supplied air is carried out through air ducts located in the ceilings, side walls and floors of the cars.

To ensure the safety of passengers, the train is equipped with external and internal video surveillance systems, as well as a fire alarm.

Driver's cab

The driver's cabin is made taking into account the requirements for driving a train with one person. The cabin design ensures the safety of the train crew and safe and efficient operation of the electric train. The driver can operate the train either standing or sitting. The Desiro RUS train control system consists of components from the proven Sibas 32 technology used for the train information bus.

When creating the cab, Siemens specialists, together with Russian Railways, worked out and optimized the location of the driver’s workplace and control panel elements, the design of the room and the viewing area of the path from the cab. The modern control panel installed in the cab has optimized ergonomic characteristics and convenient location of controls. The console displays display information about the operation of all train systems, including the results of diagnosing its technical condition. The trains are equipped with the BLOK security system, as well as analogue and digital train radio communications. If necessary, special digital and satellite communication modes can be integrated into the system.

Electric trains are equipped with a special automatic steering system, which selects the optimal traction and braking modes in terms of energy consumption, comfort for passengers and running time. In this case, the driver can switch to manual control at any time. The driver is also supported by a braking system, which by default uses regenerative electric braking, and if it is ineffective, turns on rheostatic braking. If the electric braking force is insufficient, the system automatically activates direct electro-pneumatic braking (mixed mode)

“Swallows” are not like other electric trains. They seem to take you abroad. And not just because the voice with a thick American accent funnyly repeats the names of the stations. Lastochki is clean, comfortable and pleasant to travel.

There are sandwiches, no Wi-Fi

The wide doors of the carriage open, and you are right in the cabin. There are no vestibules, bench seats, after which you leave the train somewhat square. The carriage is not so spacious, the seats are spaced tightly, but they are soft and comfortable, like on airplanes. The five-hour journey to Adler and almost the same to Rostov-on-Don can be experienced here with pleasure. The Lastochka is not intended for long journeys, because the seats do not recline.

All carriages have side chairs, but they are extremely uncomfortable to sit on. There are 30 of them in total on the train.

There are four seats for disabled people, they are located in the head cars. There are also dry closets there. They are also adapted for passengers with disabilities.

Please note that the doors of all carriages are opened only at the final stations. At other stations, you can only enter and exit through the doors in cars No. 2 and No. 3.

You can have a snack at Lastochka an hour after landing. The stewards carry around the cabin, again like on an airplane, a trolley with tea, coffee for 100 rubles, sandwiches and snacks.

During the trip, you can have fun by looking at the temperature outside and the speed gained by the “Swallow” - they are shown on the board.

The only thing that Swallows really lacks is Wi-Fi. Especially on the way to Sochi there are places where the waves mobile communications It’s difficult to get to the rails - mountains, sea. Otherwise, “Swallows” is perhaps the best thing in North Caucasus Railways.

Fighting for a place with a socket

Which car is best to take a ticket for and where to sit? Naturally, you want to sit by the window, with a view of the sea, in the direction of travel, and also to have an outlet nearby. Let's calculate.

Sockets are built into the luggage racks above the heads of passengers (in the illustration borrowed from Russian Railways, sockets are marked with red rectangles). Just in case - diagram of their location online.

Window seats are odd numbered. Even-numbered chairs - all others: middle, aisle, reclining.

To sit by the window and look at the sea on the section from Tuapse to Adler, choose, for example, seat number 45 in the second carriage. The layout of the seats differs only in the head cars; in the rest, the seats are located as in No. 2.

True, in terms of choosing a chair, there is still an element of chance: sometimes the train is turned in the other direction - this happens for technical reasons. In this case, the seats, which usually face the direction of the train, are facing backwards. Unfortunately, this cannot be known in advance. But if you choose a place next to the outlet, it cannot be taken away from you.

Router

At peak times of the year - in the summer and during the ski season - “Swallows” do nothing but “teleport” tourists from Krasnodar and even Rostov-on-Don to the coast, to Sochi, Adler and back.

However, there are others along their route. interesting stations, where you can get off quickly and carefully. You can, for example, early in the morning comfortably travel from Krasnodar to Goryachiy Klyuch in an hour, walk there all day and return back in the evening. Or get to Tuapse in 2.5 hours, spend time on the beach and watch the sun set on the water, and be back in Krasnodar at 22.02. There are plenty of options.

Regular flights to Rostov-on-Don are also an important thing for students and businessmen, not to mention those who simply come to Rostov/Krasnodar for the weekend or for cultural events.

Trains also run between Adler and Maykop, which is also extremely convenient for residents of the region. In general, the “Swallows” routes powerfully connected all the important points Krasnodar region. Let's see.

, reports the press service of North Caucasus Railways.

Pay in advance

Ticket sales for the Lastochka high-speed train begin 45 days before departure. You can buy tickets directly at the station ticket offices, and at commuter trains- the only way. Tickets are also sold at Russian Railways terminals, they are available in many train stations, at ticket agencies, but the easiest way is on the Internet.

When buying online, you can choose your seats in a fairly clear pattern, for example, scoring yourself a window seat or making sure you don't have to sit with your back facing the direction of travel if you get motion sickness. You can pay for your ticket like any other online purchase: by bank card, through Qiwi wallet, PayPal, Yandex-money or Webmoney.

The online ticket should be printed on a printer or using a special Russian Railways terminal. The barcode is important, which may be needed to pass through the turnstile at a station, for example, Sochi.

High-speed electric train "Lastochka" (Desiro RUS)

The Lastochka train Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod is an excellent, and most importantly budget-friendly way to get from the capital of the Volga region to the capital of Russia. After all, those who at least occasionally travel around the country by plane or train know that this pleasure is not cheap. For Russian Railways, the Lastochka train is the exception to the rule when you can get from one point to another quickly and for little money.

We buy tickets for 540 rubles

In the price list announced by Russian Railways, the minimum ticket price for 2016 is about 540 rubles. Agree, traveling to Moscow for a little over 1,000 rubles round trip, and spending only about eight hours on the road, is some kind of fairy tale. For example, if I travel by car, I spend about 2,600 rubles on gasoline, and a one-way trip takes about six hours (this is even if there are no heavy traffic jams).

When departing from Moscow, the numbering of cars begins from the head of the train. In the fifth and tenth carriages of the train, seats No. 25 and 26 are intended for wheelchair users. Such places are separately marked on our diagrams. The cabin layout is 2+2 and 3+2 (on one side there are 2 or 3 seats, on the other 2), in the Swallows Premium business class carriages there are also single seats. By the way, I advise you to purchase seats with folding seats in those cars where there are four of them.

The Lastochka train (Desiro Rus) was developed for the Russian railway by Siemens AG. The Lastochka train is a high-speed electric train for short-distance routes. The Swallow train reaches a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The Lastochka train consists of five cars (two motor cars). The train composition can be increased to 10 cars by coupling two trains. The Lastochka train can only be operated in multiples of 5 cars.

In 2013, the Lastochka train began running on the route St. Petersburg - Veliky Novgorod. Cars No. 1 and No. 5 of the Lastochka train have two seats each for wheelchair users. The Lastochka train can carry 443 passengers at a time.
