Husky riding is a fairly popular activity. active rest not only for adults, but also for children.

You don't have to go to the North to do this.

There are a large number of specialized centers where you can ride a dog sled and learn the skills of independent management of a sled by being in the place of the driver.

The most important thing is to overcome the fear of. Although in appearance they resemble wolves, by temperament they are quite good-natured and friendly animals.

The dogs undergo special training to work with people; they have no aggression towards strangers.

IN Lately This breed is mainly used for participation in safari, winter racing and for the tourism business (actually for riding tourists).

Mandatory instruction is carried out by a qualified instructor, who explains all aspects, safety rules and the basics of driving a team. During the ride, he monitors the safety of both adult riders and children.

Huskies acquired the role of sled dog a couple of 1000 years ago.

Initially, husky riding was not perceived as a form of recreation.

And in Russia, not a single trip to the North was complete without reliable assistants - sled dogs.

The peoples of Siberia, the North and the Far East achieved the greatest skill in riding huskies.

For a long period, husky riding was considered the most optimal way to move across the vast snowy plains.

In those days, sled-driving competitions also appeared (it was even planned to establish a corresponding Olympic sport).

Despite their excellent physiological characteristics and natural endurance, huskies are good service dogs.

They do not have a developed sense of property, the so-called territoriality, therefore, in the role watchdog, husky is not the best option.

Efforts to awaken these qualities are fraught with mental problems in your pet. Many huskies have a freedom-loving and obstinate disposition.

They are incredibly good-natured and do not pay attention to any pranks of children.. They charge everyone around them with their energy and love of life.

They have a close pack instinct. In this regard, it is better to have several large pets at once. Although this depends directly on the financial capabilities of the owner.

The dogs are harnessed to a sleigh for several passengers. An alternative is carts on rubber wheels in the warm season.

Dogs are controlled not with a whip or reins (as in equestrian dogs), but with the help of certain commands.

There are several options for sledding: fan or plow. In the first case, one dog acts as the leader, and the rest hurry after him and drag the sled behind them.

The leader of the pack (the most intelligent dog) listens to the instructions of the musher (driver) and sets the direction of movement for the rest.

In the second case, the dogs are lined up in pairs and two dogs act as the leader. After the leaders come the stronger ones and the pets, and staunch dog-pullers are installed closer to the sleds.

The minimum number of dogs harnessed to one sleigh is eight adult pets (over the age of one year).

So that tourists can ride a husky, the mushers teach the basics of control (although at first glance it’s easier than ever).

First of all, it is worth considering the factor of probable disobedience to the new owner. Control techniques are not difficult to master, but to gain the favor of the leader, you will have to use psychological tricks.

Huskies do not experience discomfort or pain while riding. They really enjoy this process.

The dogs are attached to the sled, which comfortably clasps the chest and body between the front and hind legs.

You can ride a husky with children at low speed, up to forty kilometers per hour. In competitions, they develop significantly greater speed.
